The Bhubaneswar police have dismantled a notorious gang responsible for a spate of motorcycle thefts across the city.
On the evening of January 30, 2025, Nihar Ranjan Nayak reported his motorcycle stolen from Lingaraj Hata. The investigation, led by ASI Amarendra Swain of Lingaraj Police Station, swiftly uncovered a series of thefts masterminded by Nilanchal Dihudi. Dihudi, along with his accomplices Krushna Chandra Sahu and Gangadhar Jani, had been systematically targeting motorcycles in various areas including Kharvel Nagar, Bharatpur, Capital, and Tamando Police Station jurisdictions.
Following a tip-off, the police apprehended Dihudi near a market complex in Old Town, Lingaraj. A search revealed multiple sets of keys and several stolen motorcycles in his possession. During interrogation, Dihudi confessed to his involvement in multiple thefts, implicating his accomplices in the process.
Subsequent raids led to the recovery of 12 stolen motorcycles, which were seized from the suspects. The trio has been arrested and charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. They are set to be presented before the court.
The police’s swift action has brought a sense of relief to the citizens, highlighting the importance of vigilant law enforcement in ensuring public safety.
