Khandagiri police arrested a woman volunteer accused of cheating people by promising government jobs. The arrest took place in Keonjhar after a special team tracked her down.
The accused had earlier applied for anticipatory bail in the Orissa High Court to avoid arrest. Following the court’s rejection, police successfully detained her.
Investigators revealed that the woman introduced herself as a volunteer and collected large sums of money from several individuals. She allegedly promised jobs in the police department and other government offices.
Police sources confirmed that she was brought to Bhubaneswar for interrogation. Authorities are probing her financial dealings and identifying other people connected to the scam.
The case highlights the growing trend of job-related fraud in Odisha. Unemployed youth often fall victim to such schemes, lured by false promises of secure employment. Police have intensified their crackdown on such rackets, vowing strict action against offenders.
Officials believe more individuals may be involved in the scam. The investigation continues, with police determined to arrest all those linked to the fraud.
