Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced Rs 4 lakh as ex-gratia for the family of the minor boy who died after being swept away in an open drain in Berhampur of Ganjam district.
According to the CMO, Chief Minister Majhi, expressing profound sorrow over the boy’s death, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.

In a tragic incident, Sairam Patra, an 11-year-old boy, lost his life on Wednesday after slipping into an open drain in Laxminarayan Singh Sahi within the jurisdiction of the Bada Bazar police station in Berhampur.
Sairam was on his way home from tuition on his bicycle when he fell into the open drain. After an extensive search, his body was retrieved from the drain around 2 am on Thursday.
