Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday caught the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Bolangir district while taking bribe of Rs 10,000 from an Assistant Teacher.
According to Vigilance, Raghab Panigrahi, Block Education Officer (BEO), Bolangir was apprehended today while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from an Assistant Teacher in order to submit a favourable enquiry report in the departmental proceeding initiated against the complainant.
The entire bribe money of Rs.10,000/- has been recovered from BEO Panigrahi and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at 2 locations from DA angle, the Vigilance said.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.37 dated 11.10.2022 U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. An investigation is in progress against accused BEO Raghab Panigrahi, the Vigilance added.
