Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo announced that Belpada and Bangomunda will be officially declared Notified Area Councils (NACs) within the next two months.
The declaration follows the submission of required proposals from the district level, which had previously been pending.
Speaking at the inauguration of the beautification project of the Krishi Bhavan in Patnagarh, Singh Deo addressed the public and clarified that the delay in NAC status was due to the absence of formal proposals during the previous administration. He criticized opposition leaders for misleading the public, stating that mere protests cannot lead to NAC or municipality status without proper administrative procedures.
Singh Deo emphasized that NAC designation requires a proposal from the district level followed by government notification. Once a Gram Panchayat is converted into an NAC, it transitions administratively and becomes eligible for targeted grants and development schemes.
The event was chaired by District Agriculture Officer Dhirendra Narayan Singh Bariha and attended by dignitaries including Lok Sabha MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, Rajya Sabha MP Niranjan Bisi, District Collector Gaurav Shivaji Isalwar, and Agriculture Department Engineer Narendra Panda.
During the program, Singh Deo also addressed concerns about fertilizer supply, assuring farmers that there is no shortage. MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo praised both the Modi-led central government and the Majhi-led state government for driving substantial development in the region.
