New Delhi: Jay Shah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary has announced an enormous amount of Rs. 125 crore prize money for Team Blue after their T20 World Cup 2024 title triumph over South Africa in Barbados on Saturday.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Sunday announced the prize money on social media X and wrote, “I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement.”

Notably, the International Cricket Council has announced that the winner of the tournament, Team India, will be awarded the prize money of $24.5 lakh (₹20.42 crores) after clinching the title with their seven-run win in the final while South Africa, the runners-up, received $12.8 lakh (₹10.67 crores) in prize money.
The win under the leadership of Rohit Sharma marked an ICC title drought of 11 years since India’s Champions Trophy win in England in 2013 and also their first T20 World Cup title since the inaugural edition in 2007 in South Africa.
