Bhubaneswar: On the directions of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the dead body of an Odia labourer from Balasore is being brought back to Odisha from Mumbai.
The body of Muralidhar Mahakud, a labourer from Sahapur village under Gobindpur village panchayat of Khaira block in Balasore district, is being brought back to Odisha from Mumbai.
Mahakud passed away in Mumbai while receiving treatment for an illness. His family, in financial distress, appealed to the Chief Minister for help.
In response, the Chief Minister directed the district administration to assist in bringing the body back home. Arrangements were made for an ambulance, and the Chief Minister also expressed his condolences to Mahakud’s family.
“On the instructions of the Chief Minister, arrangements were made by the district administration to bring his dead body to Odisha by ambulance. Mahakud’s dead body will reach his village tomorrow (Wednesday),” the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), said.
This evening, the Chief Minister spoke to the late Mahakud’s wife and daughter, over the phone and expressed his condolences. He assured them of support and encouraged the daughter to continue her education. The family has expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his prompt action.
