The 79th edition of the British Academy Film Awards struck an emotional note as legendary Indian actor Dharmendra was honoured during the In Memoriam segment.
Held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, the ceremony paid tribute to distinguished film personalities from across the globe who passed away over the past year. Dharmendra, who died in November at the age of 89, was remembered among international cinema icons, marking a significant moment for Indian cinema on a global platform.

Dharmendra’s Passing and Legacy
Dharmendra passed away on November 24 last year at his residence in Mumbai. He was briefly hospitalised earlier in the month and later discharged before his demise. The veteran actor was cremated in Mumbai on November 25.
Born in 1935 in a village in Ludhiana, Dharmendra began his cinematic journey in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. He rose to prominence in the 1960s and became one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable stars.
