A baby crocodile was rescued from the shores of Chandrabhaga Sea on Saturday by the Konark Forest Department, following reports from local fishermen who spotted the reptile near the Noliasahi coastal village.
The sighting caused panic among the fishing community, prompting immediate action from wildlife officials.
The juvenile crocodile was found wandering along the beach and was safely captured by forest personnel. It has since been placed under care at the Konark Wildlife Division office, where it is being monitored in a secure enclosure.
According to Sudarshan Dehuri, Wildlife Officer of the Konark Forest Division, the mother crocodile is believed to be residing near the coastal stretch adjacent to Noliasahi village. Officials suspect the baby may have entered the sea from a nearby estuary.
The rescued crocodile will soon be relocated to Nandankanan Zoological Park for rehabilitation. The incident has raised awareness about the presence of wild reptiles along Odisha’s coastline and the importance of swift wildlife response.
