Singh, undergoing treatment for “age-related medical issues,” was swiftly taken to the emergency department of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after he became unconscious, according to a statement from the hospital. Singh served as prime minister in the Congress-led UPA administrations of 2004 and 2009 and held the position of finance minister in Narasimha Rao’s government in 1991, which initiated the opening of the Indian economy and marked the beginning of economic liberalization.
