AI engineer Atul Subhash’s estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, and brother Anurag were arrested and placed in 14 days of judicial custody in Bengaluru.
Atul, who died by suicide, accused them of harassment and extortion.
Nikita was arrested in Gurugram, while her family was detained in Prayagraj. They had sought anticipatory bail after being summoned by Bengaluru Police.
Atul alleged that Nikita demanded Rs 2 to 4 lakh for maintenance, using their four-year-old son to press the demand. He was troubled by not being able to see his child and questioned the judicial system.
Previously, Nikita had filed a case against Atul for assault and criminal intimidation, alleging dissatisfaction with her family’s wedding gifts and a demand for an additional Rs 10 lakh.
