Italy’s Jannik Sinner clinched his first Wimbledon title by defeating Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in a gripping four-set showdown: 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
The win not only marked Sinner’s maiden Grand Slam title at SW19 but also solidified his position as World No. 1 in the ATP Rankings.
Sinner, now leading the rankings with 12,030 points, becomes the fifth player in the Open Era to cross the 12,000-point threshold, joining legends like Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray. Alcaraz, despite the loss, holds on to the second spot with 8,600 points.
American Taylor Fritz climbed back to a career-high No. 4, while British hopeful Jack Draper slipped to fifth following an early Wimbledon exit. Rising star Ben Shelton reached a career-best No. 9 after his impressive quarterfinal run, and Andrey Rublev made a strong comeback to the top 10.
Elsewhere, Flavio Cobolli, Mattia Bellucci, Alex Michelsen, and João Fonseca were among the next-gen names registering career-high rankings, reflecting a broader generational shift in the sport.
For Indian tennis followers, Sumit Nagal rose nine spots to 287 in singles. Meanwhile, in doubles, Yuki Bhambri climbed to World No. 29 — leading the Indian pack with solid consistency.
With Wimbledon concluded, all eyes now turn to the US Open 2025, where rising contenders and seasoned veterans will clash again in pursuit of Grand Slam glory.
