Kingstown: The Caribbean island of St Vincent has been blanketed in a layer of ash, bringing major disruption after a volcano erupted on Friday.
White-coloured dust has covered buildings and roads around the island, including in its capital Kingstown.
The thick dust was also on the move, traveling 175 kilometers (110 miles) to the east and starting to impact the neighboring island of Barbados.
The whitish powder caked roads, homes and buildings in Saint Vincent after the powerful blasts from the volcano called La Soufriere that began Friday and continued into the night.
Visibility in some areas was extremely limited, while in the capital city Kingstown on the south of the island — the volcano is in the north — the ash caused a thin haze of dust.
The volcano was dormant for decades but started to become active in December.
Thousands of people have been forced out of their homes and the water supply to most of the island has been cut off.
