Actor and filmmaker Aryan Khan has shared his first public reflections on the making of his debut Netflix show, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, which has rapidly become one of the top non-English shows globally.
Global Success and Audience Reception
Since its release two weeks ago, The Ba**ds of Bollywood* has ranked among the top five most-watched non-English shows on Netflix worldwide, trending in 14 countries and holding the #1 spot in nine of them. The show has generated a wave of fan engagement, inspiring memes, reels, and discussions across social media platforms.
Facing Difficulties During Production
Speaking about the creative journey, Aryan revealed the personal and professional challenges he faced. “Whenever things got difficult, I’d hear Jaraj’s voice in my head, ‘Haarne mein aur haar maanne mein bohot farak hota hai’ (There is a difference between losing and accepting defeat),” he said, referencing a line delivered by Rajat Bedi’s character on the show.
He added, “At first, I thought it was motivation, but soon realised it was just lack of sleep and fatigue. Still, that vision kept me going, and now to see the happiness my work has brought people is deeply emotional for me… it is why I do what I do, it is what drew me to storytelling.”
Cultural Impact and Audience Connection
Reflecting on the global cultural response, Aryan expressed gratitude for the widespread appreciation. “The love from around the world has been incredible, with the show trending across countries and filling timelines with reels, memes, and fan theories. What began as my story now truly belongs to the audience, and it’s only because of Netflix that this story could reach homes across the globe,” he said.
