Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that all three Pakistani terrorists responsible for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in April have been eliminated in Operation Mahadev, conducted on July 28.
Making the announcement during the ongoing Parliament debate on Operation Sindoor, Shah identified the slain terrorists as Suleiman — the mastermind, and his accomplices Afghan and Jibran. All three were top operatives of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is banned under international law.
The trio was neutralised in a counter-terror operation in Dachi, near Srinagar, on Monday. While reports had surfaced about their deaths, Shah officially confirmed the identities in Parliament, citing statements from NIA detainees who had provided them shelter.
“Those arrested by the NIA confirmed their identities upon being shown the bodies,” Shah stated.
The Pahalgam attack, carried out on April 22, claimed 26 lives and triggered a swift and forceful Indian military response under Operation Sindoor. Operation Mahadev, seen as an extension of this response, marks a significant blow to terror networks operating out of Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
