Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi performed the ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ ritual at the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) farm in Bhubaneswar, marking the official beginning of the agricultural season.
Akshaya Tritiya, believed to be one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar, is celebrated with fervour across the state. The day is marked by ceremonial sowing rituals, housewarmings, vehicle purchases, and investments in gold jewellery. It is an occasion that inspires new ventures and symbolizes prosperity and good fortune.
Farmers, in particular, celebrate this day with ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula,’ a ritualistic sowing of seeds as a prayer for a bountiful harvest. The ceremony underscores the importance of agriculture in Odisha’s cultural and economic fabric. Similar events were also held in Berhampur, where Governor Haribabu Kambhampati partook in the traditional ceremonies.
The day witnessed collective prayers, cultural gatherings, and hopes for growth and renewal, reinforcing Odisha’s deep-rooted connection to its traditions and agriculture.
