The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will meet Indian Super League (ISL) clubs on November 18 in New Delhi to discuss the 2025-26 season window.
The federation aims to conduct the league between January 1 and May 31 and plans to list the matter in the Supreme Court on November 19.
AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey confirmed the schedule after a meeting with clubs on November 12. He said the federation wants to push Indian football forward and believes the proposed calendar is mathematically possible. With 14 teams, the plan would require 187 matches in 150 days.
The ISL faces uncertainty as the current contract between AIFF and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) expires in December. Both parties have failed to agree on a new deal. AIFF’s Request for Quotation for a commercial partner attracted no bids before the November 7 deadline.
The deadlock has already impacted clubs. Kerala Blasters, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, and Odisha FC suspended operations. Players issued a joint statement urging authorities to start the league quickly. Clubs and players also decided to file individual petitions in the Supreme Court seeking an urgent resolution.
AIFF has asked clubs to arrive at the November 18 meeting with proposals and recommendations. The federation hopes to finalise a plan and move forward with the January-May window.
Logistical challenges remain. The ISL currently lacks a commercial partner and has no streaming or broadcast deal, both previously managed by FSDL. Without these, the ambitious calendar faces hurdles.
The Supreme Court’s direction on November 19 will play a decisive role in shaping the future of the ISL.
