As part of the preparations for the grand Mahakumbh Mela 2025, the Ahmedabad Railway Division is introducing 34 new train services to ensure smooth travel for pilgrims.
Ajay Solanki, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ahmedabad Railway, announced, “Western Railway is launching 98 special train services, with 34 initiated by the Ahmedabad division to key destinations such as Rajkot-Banaras and Sabarmati-Banaras.”
To guarantee passenger safety and manage crowds, railway protection teams have been deployed at stations. Pilgrims can now plan their journeys ahead of time, as bookings for these special trains have already started.
The Uttar Pradesh government is also making extensive arrangements for the large-scale Mahakumbh Mela, scheduled to take place in Prayagraj from January 10 to February 24, 2025. More than 5,000 buses and 550 electric vehicles are being organized to accommodate the millions of devotees expected to visit. Vivek Chaturvedi, the Additional District Magistrate, noted that temporary bus stands are currently being constructed to handle the increased traffic during peak days.
