Bhubaneswar: Actor Pintu Nanda who was admitted to ILBS Hospital in New Delhi for liver transplantation, has been shifted to Hyderabad due to unavailability of donor.
Nand suffering from cirrhosis of liver was admitted to ILBS Hospital on February 7. He has been shifted to Hyderabad as blood group of his family members didn’t match with him, relatives said.
Initially, Nanda was undergoing treatment in Bhubaneswar over liver ailment.
As his condition deteriorated, doctors advised him to undergo a transplantation.He was taken to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) Hospital in Delhi.
As per the rules of ILBS Hospital, only family members can donate liver. But the blood group of the family member who agreed to donate liver to Pintu did not match.
Pintu Nand is now stable. “We started arranging a donor. Once the donor is found, transplantation will be done as early as possible, said Odisha Cine Artist secretary Sritam Das.
The 45-year-old actor needs more than 50 lakh rupees for his liver transplant. The Odisha Cine Artistes Association has been raising funds from various sources for Pintu’s treatment.
