The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA), has successfully conducted a Proof of Concept (PoC) for Aadhaar-based face authentication during the NEET UG 2025 examination in select centres across Delhi.
The initiative marks a significant step in ensuring enhanced security and seamless candidate verification in large-scale examinations.
The PoC aimed to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of biometric authentication in verifying candidates’ identities. The Aadhaar Face Authentication system was seamlessly integrated with NIC’s digital infrastructure and NTA’s exam protocols, ensuring a streamlined and contactless verification process. Conducted in real-time, the authentication process leveraged Aadhaar’s biometric database to deliver high accuracy and efficiency, making the verification process more robust and secure.
Government officials highlighted the initiative’s potential in curbing impersonation during exams, preventing fraudulent activities, and reinforcing transparency in academic assessments. Given its success, this technology could soon become a standard feature for entrance examinations across the country.
The Aadhaar Face Authentication system’s implementation reflects India’s push toward digital innovation in public services, reaffirming the government’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology to improve governance and security.
