As part of the ongoing Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan launched on September 17, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha has kicked off a state-wide grassroots drive titled “Anganwadi Chalo Abhiyan” (also known as Angan Utsav or Anganwadi Milan).
Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar on September 23, BJP Mahila Morcha State President Aishwarya Biswal outlined the key objectives of this initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots healthcare and early childhood education across Odisha.
Key Objectives of the Drive
-
Monitoring Poshan 2.0: Party representatives will visit Anganwadi centres across every district to evaluate the implementation of the Central Government’s Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 schemes.
-
On-Ground Audits: Leaders will inspect food quality, track children’s attendance, and ensure welfare benefits reach targeted beneficiaries without friction.
-
Community Engagement: Workers will interact directly with children, parents, and Anganwadi staff to raise awareness about maternal and child nutrition.
-
Pre-School Modernisation Check: The wing will assess centre infrastructure to help upgrade them into modern pre-schools equipped with essential amenities.
-
Honouring Grassroots Workers: Anganwadi workers and helpers (Sahayikas) will be felicitated for their vital contributions to community healthcare and child protection.
Driving Toward a Malnutrition-Free Odisha
Speaking on the roadmap, Mrs Biswal emphasised that achieving a malnutrition-free Odisha remains the core objective of the campaign.
“Under the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, our team is directly connecting with mothers, children, and workers at the ground level. We want to ensure that every nutrition and healthcare benefit designed by the Central Government reaches the last mile effectively,” said Aishwarya Biswal.
The Mahila Morcha confirmed that routine visits and monitoring drives will continue across various centres to ensure high standards of child nutrition and maternal health throughout the state.
