Following a media report by Pragativadi highlighting severe infrastructure deficits and a lack of teaching staff at the Lakhana village school, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has officially taken cognisance of the issue.
A formal case (Case No. 899/18/30/2026) has been registered with the rights panel regarding the safety, education, and overall well-being of the 96 students enrolled at the institution.
In response to the NHRC action, the Nuapada Collector and District Magistrate issued orders for a comprehensive joint inquiry into the school’s conditions. The Block Development Officer (BDO) and the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Komna have been instructed to execute the probe.
Scope of the Inquiry
Under the Collector’s directive, the joint team will inspect:

Infrastructure & Facilities: Physical state of the school building, availability of functional classrooms, clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and electrical infrastructure.

Staffing & Operations: Current strength of teaching and non-teaching personnel, student attendance rates, and general safety protocols.

Risk Assessment: Immediate hazards threatening student safety, alongside a review of past administrative interventions.
The BDO and BEO must submit their joint inspection and action-taken report to the District Collector within three days of receiving the official directive.
