A theft at a house close to the official residence of Nuapada Superintendent of Police Amritpal Singh has stirred the town.
Thieves struck on Sunday night along National Highway 353 and targeted the home of retired professor Kishore Kumar Barik and teacher Swarnalata Jhankar.
The couple discovered the burglary on Monday morning and informed the police. Officers reached the spot and began an investigation. According to reports, the thieves took silk sarees valued at about Rs 25 lakh along with cash, silver articles and silver coins.
The location has drawn extra attention because the house stands near the SP’s residence on a busy national highway. Police are probing the incident.
