Odisha Vigilance apprehended Satya Priya Nayak, Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) at Athamallik Tahasil Office in Angul, on March 28, 2025.
Nayak was caught in the act while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant.
The bribe was allegedly solicited to process a land partition application and facilitate the issuance of separate Records of Rights (RORs) among heirs of the paternal land. Despite repeated requests from the complainant’s family, Nayak had refused to process the application without receiving the bribe. Frustrated by his behavior, the complainant approached Vigilance authorities, who set up a successful sting operation.
Nayak was nabbed in front of the SBI ATM at SBI Main Branch, Athamallik, as he attempted to deposit the bribe amount into his account. Following the operation, simultaneous searches are being conducted at multiple locations linked to the accused to investigate disproportionate assets.
A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 7/2025) has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and an investigation is currently underway.
