The Odisha government has announced a relief package for families affected by the recent floods, with compensation of up to Rs 1.20 lakh for households whose homes have been completely destroyed.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said officials from the Revenue and Agriculture departments have begun detailed assessments in areas where floodwaters have receded. Families with fully damaged houses will receive Rs 1.20 lakh each, while those with partially damaged kutcha houses will get Rs 4,000. Fully damaged huts will be compensated with Rs 8,000.
Farmers who suffered crop losses will receive Rs 8,500 per hectare. The floods have impacted 22 districts, 85 blocks, and 1,458 villages, affecting a total of 8,63,909 people.
Pujari emphasised that the assessment process will help the government extend relief and rehabilitation assistance swiftly to affected families.
