The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warnings for several districts in Odisha from July 10 to July 15, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface winds. In some areas, heavy rainfall is also likely.
On July 10, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds up to 40–50 kmph may occur in Balasore and Bhadrak. Strong winds are also expected in Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
Districts including Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj may experience thunderstorms with winds of 30–40 kmph.
On July 11, similar warnings extend to Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Boudh.
From July 12 to July 14, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are forecast across multiple districts, including Bargarh, Sonepur, and Balangir. Heavy rainfall is likely in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
On July 15, heavy rainfall may occur in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
The IMD advised residents to take precautions, especially those engaged in outdoor activities. Farmers and fishermen should monitor updates closely before venturing out, as lightning and strong winds pose risks to life and property.
