Prime Minister Narendra Modi today embarked on a three-nation visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, reinforcing India’s Act East Policy and MAHASAGAR Vision.
From July 6 to 8, the Prime Minister will be in Indonesia at the invitation of President Prabowo Subianto. The visit builds on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2018, marking the first bilateral trip since its elevation. President Prabowo, who was the chief guest at India’s Republic Day in January 2025, will join the Prime Minister at the historic Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta to celebrate shared civilizational heritage. Talks will focus on expanding defence, trade and cultural ties, alongside engagements with the Indian diaspora.
The second leg takes the Prime Minister to Melbourne, Australia, where he will meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Discussions will advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in defence, security, trade, investments, education and critical technologies. The Prime Minister will also connect with the vibrant Indian community and explore new avenues in sports and emerging technologies.
In Auckland, New Zealand, the Prime Minister will hold talks with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Building on Luxon’s March 2025 visit to India, the leaders will focus on strengthening economic ties and implementing the recently signed Free Trade Agreement. The Prime Minister will address a large gathering of the successful Indian diaspora in New Zealand.
