Rourkela Police have launched a sweeping Special Enforcement Drive across the district from May 10, 2026, following directives from Police Headquarters and the Superintendent of Police, Rourkela.
The operation aimed to curb illegal activities, strengthen law and order, and ensure public safety.
The intensive drive included naka checking at vulnerable points, excise raids, drunken driving enforcement, warrant executions, and action against habitual offenders.
Simultaneously, police carried out verification drives at hotels, lodges, bus stands, railway stations, and other sensitive locations to prevent suspicious and unlawful activities.
According to police sources, the crackdown yielded significant results:
- Excise Cases Registered: 66
- Liquor Seized: 339.1 litres of ID liquor and 108.02 litres of foreign liquor
- Accused Arrested: 66
- Drunken Driving Cases: 68
- E-Challans Issued: 3,848
- Total Fine Collected: ₹58,06,500
- PR Against Habitual Offenders: 23
- Warrant Executions: 19
- Illegal Mining Cases: 07
During the mining crackdown, police seized multiple vehicles, including a dumper, two Hyva trucks, a manganese-laden truck, and a tractor carrying sand.
Officials emphasised that the drive was designed to maintain strict vigilance over illegal transportation, illicit liquor trade, reckless driving, and other activities threatening public peace.
Odisha Police reiterated its commitment to law enforcement, road safety, and public order, confirming that similar intensive drives will continue in the coming days.
