Gujarat Titans delivered a masterclass in composure and execution as they dismantled Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets in a one-sided TATA IPL 2026 encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
After restricting the hosts to a modest 158 for 7, GT chased down the target with clinical precision, finishing at 162 for 2 in just 16.4 overs.
A late blitz from Jamie Overton (18 off 6) provided some respectability to the total, but 158 always looked well below par once the lights came on and the surface eased out.
In reply, Gujarat Titans were clinical from the outset. Sai Sudharsan produced a sublime knock of 87 off just 46 balls, blending elegant drives with powerful hitting to anchor the chase. He forged crucial stands with skipper Shubman Gill (33) and Jos Buttler, who remained unbeaten on 39 to see the side home without any late drama.
GT raced to 58 inside the powerplay and crossed the 100-run mark inside 12 overs, ensuring the required rate never became a concern. The chase was wrapped up with more than three overs to spare, underlining GT’s balance, depth, and tactical clarity this season.
This victory not only hands Gujarat two vital points but also sends a strong message to the rest of the league about their credentials as serious contenders. For Chennai Super Kings, it’s back to the drawing board as they reflect on a batting display that never truly ignited.
