Police recovered the body of Hemkumari Sahu from her house in Kadomeri village under Beltukuri police station in Nuapada district.
Officers arrested her husband, Bhim Satnami and produced him in court.
Hemkumari married Bhim in 2022 through a court marriage, as they belonged to different castes. On March 23 night, villagers discovered her hanging inside the house. Police reached the spot and recovered the body.

Meanwhile, villagers demanded the arrest of Bhim’s parents, Amar Singh Satnami and Vanabai Satnami. They alleged that the in-laws were also involved in the incident. On Saturday evening, family members and villagers gathered at the Beltukuri police station and pressed for immediate action against them.
