Balasore: Police have arrested one more employee of the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Chandipur, over espionage charges.
The arrestee has been identified as Sachin Kumar. He was working as a driver at Chandipur DRDO.
With the arrest, the total no. of arrestees in the case has rose to 5.
According to reports, Sachin was taken into police custody on Wednesday. Before the case was taken over by the Odisha Crime Branch, Sachin was produced before the SDJM court today.
Worth mentioning, on Tuesday, the Odisha police had arrested four contractual employees of the DRDO at Chandipur on charges of leaking classified defence information to foreign agents.
As per reports, the four accused wrongfully and wilfully communicated classified defence secrets to foreign agents, appearing to be Pakistani agents. They were contacted from various ISD phone numbers.
They were getting wrongful monetary benefits from them in lieu of the information, the police said.
