Carlos Alcaraz maintained his unbeaten run in 2026 by defeating Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-3 at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on March 7.
Alcaraz controlled rallies from the baseline despite windy conditions at Stadium Court. His powerful forehand forced Dimitrov into repeated errors and short returns. The Spaniard broke early in the first set and closed it 6-2. In the second set, he served confidently, moved smoothly across the court, and sealed the match 6-3 in just over an hour.
With this victory, Alcaraz improved his season record to 13-0. Earlier this year, he captured the Australian Open title in January and followed it with a triumph at the Qatar Open in Doha. His winning streak now includes two major trophies and a flawless start to the season.
Alcaraz has a strong history at Indian Wells, winning the tournament in 2023 and 2024. Although he fell in the semifinals last year, his current form suggests another serious title push. He will face Arthur Rinderknech in the third round on March 9.
NBA star Jimmy Butler attended the match while recovering from ACL surgery. Alcaraz acknowledged Butler’s presence, calling him “my guy” and appreciating his support during rehabilitation nearby.
