Tamil cinema star and politician Vijay and actor Trisha Krishnan sparked fresh relationship speculation after arriving together at a wedding reception in Chennai on Thursday evening.
The two actors attended the reception of producer Kalpathi Suresh’s son. Their public appearance together quickly caught the attention of fans and social media users, as rumours about their relationship have circulated for years.
Bodyguard’s Cryptic Social Media Post
Hours before the actors were spotted at the event, Vijay’s bodyguard Aroon Suresh shared a cryptic message on Instagram.
The post read, “Time to rise above all the rumours,” accompanied by a fire emoji. Although the post was later deleted, screenshots circulated widely online.
He also shared a photo of Vijay making a heart gesture. The image was posted with the song Kokkarakko, a track from the 2004 film Ghilli, which featured Vijay and Trisha together.
Social media users on platforms like X and Reddit interpreted the post as a possible hint about the actors’ relationship.
Divorce Proceedings With Sangeeta Sornalingam
The renewed speculation comes shortly after reports emerged that Vijay’s wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam, filed a divorce petition in a family court in Chengalpattu district.
According to reports, the petition was filed under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. In the filing, Sangeeta reportedly stated that the marriage had “broken down irretrievably.”
The petition also alleges that Vijay has been emotionally distant since 2021 and accuses him of maintaining an extra-marital relationship with an unnamed actress. It further mentions claims of emotional distress and prolonged separation within the marital household.
Vijay and Sangeeta’s Family Background
Vijay and Sangeeta first registered their marriage in the United Kingdom on July 10, 1998. Their ceremonial wedding took place in Chennai on August 25, 1999.
