A Plus II student suffered critical injuries after being attacked with a blade while heading to Gop College in Puri district to appear for her examination.
The incident occurred around 8 am on the deserted Nagpur-Muguria Road under the Gop police station.
Locals rushed to her aid after hearing her screams, but the attacker managed to flee the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries to her neck and body. She was immediately taken to Gop Hospital, where doctors are treating her.
Police launched an investigation into the attack. Officers confirmed that the motive behind the assault remains unclear. They assured that efforts are underway to trace the accused and bring them to justice.
