The Government of India has declared ‘Jammu & Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen’ (JKIM) and ‘Awami Action Committee’ (AAC) as unlawful associations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967. This declaration will be effective for a period of five years.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, announced that these organizations have been found inciting people to create law and order issues and promoting secession. He emphasized that these activities pose a significant threat to the unity and integrity of the nation.

In a statement on the X platform, Amit Shah asserted, “Anyone found involved in activities against the nation’s peace, order, and sovereignty will face the crushing blow of the Modi government.” He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order, and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.

The members of JKIM and AAC have been accused of promoting secession, indulging in anti-national and subversive activities, sowing seeds of discontent among the people, and supporting terrorism. The government has taken this action to prevent these organizations from causing further harm to the nation’s unity and stability.
