In a tragic turn of events, the body of Alekh Charan Bhakta, a 32-year-old teacher who had been missing since February 21, was recovered from a forest in neighbouring Chhattisgarh state.

Authorities suspect suicide, but the circumstances remain unclear, leaving his family and community in shock.

Bhakta, a resident of Badabharandi village under Umerkote police station, served as the in-charge headmaster at Ratakhandiguda Government High School in the Jharigaon block. He was recently assigned as an invigilator for the ongoing Class 10 board examinations at Kalegaon Government High School.

According to reports, Bhakta completed his duties on Saturday, February 21, and left the school premises around 12:10 PM, heading home on his motorcycle. However, he never arrived. Concerned family members began searching for him and attempted to contact him via his two mobile numbers, both of which were found switched off.

His elder brother promptly filed a missing person report at the Jharigaon police station. Acting on the complaint, police formed an investigation team to trace his whereabouts.

The search concluded grimly today when Bhakta’s body was discovered hanging in the Menpur forest area of Chhattisgarh. At the scene, investigators recovered his motorcycle, voter ID card, and Aadhaar card. No suicide note or immediate evidence explaining the motive was found, prompting questions about what led to this devastating outcome.
