Burglars targeted the Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir (UAAM) at Sarasmal near Jharsuguda late last night, breaking locks and looting medical equipment worth lakhs of rupees.
Hospital staff discovered the break‑in this morning when they arrived for duty. They found the main gate lock broken and several valuable items missing. The stolen materials include two inverter batteries, a CCTV DVR unit, an LED television, hospital furniture, and critical medical equipment.
Pharmacist Shubham Nayak lodged a written complaint at Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station. He stated that the theft of the CCTV DVR made it difficult to identify the culprits in the initial stage. The incident has caused significant financial loss to the health centre and disrupted healthcare services for local residents.
Police reached the spot and began an investigation. Officers inspected the premises and initiated efforts to trace the burglars. The theft has triggered public anger in the area, with locals expressing dissatisfaction over rising incidents of crime.
