Police arrested Bhaskar Kirsani of Sadashivpur village under Korukonda block, Malkangiri district, after his wife Dalimba Kirsani died under suspicious circumstances.
Dalimba, aged 24, was found dead in her home. Her family lodged a written complaint at Orkel Police Station, alleging that Bhaskar and his relatives murdered her. Acting on the complaint, police registered Case No. 52/2026 and began an investigation under the direction of Inspector Dhiren Pattnayak.
Investigating officer Harapriya Sabar collected evidence and questioned family members. Police revealed that Bhaskar subjected his wife to prolonged mental and physical torture. Unable to bear the abuse, Dalimba consumed poison, leading to her death.
Police seized relevant materials from the scene and confirmed that the case involved domestic violence. Officers arrested Bhaskar on Friday and produced him before the court. Authorities stated that the investigation continues to establish further details and accountability.
