The Odisha Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes today as Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House till 12:00 amidst uproarious protests.
Opposition parties BJD and Congress created a ruckus as soon as the Question Hour began, leading to the disruption of proceedings.
Members of the BJD staged a protest over BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra’s controversial remarks. Simultaneously, Congress members raised a furore over the increasing incidents of crimes against women in the state. The opposition’s vehement protests led to an impasse, forcing the Speaker to temporarily suspend the session.
Despite the pandemonium, the Question Hour proceedings continued for a brief period before the adjournment. The Assembly is expected to reconvene later in the day, with tensions running high and further disruptions anticipated.
