A prisoner from Dumduma died while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after spending nearly a year in Jharpada Special Jail.
The inmate had suffered from serious health issues for months. Jail authorities admitted him to several hospitals, including SCB Medical College, Capital Hospital, and finally AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He passed away this morning while receiving treatment.
His mother accused jail officials of routinely assaulting her son inside the prison. She claimed repeated beatings worsened his health and ultimately led to his death. Family members supported her allegations and demanded accountability.
The incident triggered tension around Jharpada Jail. Police reached the site and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The report is awaited.
