A violent clash in Binka town of Subarnapur district left one person dead and two others critically injured near the pond in Ward No. 8 on Tuesday night.

The fight broke out between two groups, leading to a stabbing incident. Shambhu Meher, also known as Somanath, aged 30 from Nuapada, sustained severe injuries to his back and stomach. Despite being rushed to VIMSAR Burla after initial treatment at Binka Community Health Centre, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Two others, Amit Bharasagar, 18, from Bhimabhoi Nagar, and Tunu Ranabida, 18, also suffered serious injuries. Doctors referred them to Burla Medical College late at night as their condition remained critical.

Police reached the hospital after receiving information, seized the body, and initiated further investigation. Authorities detained one person connected to the incident. The exact cause of the stabbing remains unclear, and investigators are working to establish the motive behind the clash.
