The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will kick off on February 7 and conclude with the final on March 8, with India and Sri Lanka jointly hosting the marquee event.
A total of 20 teams will compete across eight venues—five in India and three in Sri Lanka—as the world’s best sides battle for the biggest prize in the shortest format.
India entered the tournament as defending champions, having won the 2024 edition in the West Indies and the USA. That victory ended a 13-year-long ICC title drought in the format, with India becoming the first team in history to win the T20 World Cup unbeaten.
Tournament Format
- Warm-up matches: Teams will play practice games to adjust to local conditions.
- Group stage: Each team plays four matches.
- Super 8 round: Top two teams from each group qualify.
- Knockouts: Semi-finals and the final decide the champion.
