The official website of Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) was hacked on Wednesday night around 8 p.m., triggering alarm among students and authorities.
According to reports, Pakistani hackers defaced the website by displaying the Pakistani flag and slogans such as “Pakistan Zindabad,” “ISI Zindabad,” and “Air Force Zindabad.” The hackers also posted derogatory slogans against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A student first noticed the defacement and alerted the university group. Following this, authorities immediately took action. A formal complaint was lodged with the Cyber Police Station, and the company responsible for website maintenance was instructed to shut down the portal temporarily.
Deputy Registrar Uma Charan Pati confirmed that the website was restored after repairs and is now functioning securely and normally. He assured that additional safeguards have been put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
