The Vigilance Court in Keonjhar convicted Sadananda Naik, former Sarapanch, and Sripada Naik, former Gram Sanjojoka of Sadangi GP under Champua Block, in a corruption case filed by Odisha Vigilance.
The Vigilance Department had charge-sheeted both officials under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, along with Sections 409, 468, 471, and 120-B of the IPC. Investigators found that the accused misappropriated government funds by preparing inflated bills and falsifying muster rolls in connection with road works under the MGNREGS scheme in Champua Block.
The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar, pronounced the judgment today. The court sentenced each accused to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
The conviction underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued efforts to curb corruption in grassroots governance and ensure accountability in the implementation of welfare schemes.
