Navy Officer Lieutenant Harshit Deo formally took charge as the Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to the Governor of Odisha on Monday.
The appointment ceremony took place at Lok Bhawan, where Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati conferred the honorary title upon him.
Firstly, Lieutenant Deo assumed his new role after serving as Watch Keeping Officer (WKO) aboard INS Aditya. Moreover, he brings with him a strong academic background as an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), holding a B.Tech degree in Applied Electronics and Communication.
Secondly, he completed his Sub-Lieutenant (Afloat) phase onboard INS Delhi in May 2022. Afterwards, he pursued the SLT (X) Tech Course and joined INS Aditya in April 2023 for watch-keeping duties. Consequently, he was appointed WKO in December 2023.
During his tenure, Lieutenant Deo participated in multiple fleet deployments and international naval exercises, thereby gaining valuable operational experience.
Furthermore, Lieutenant Deo hails from Lohaghat in Champawat district of Uttarakhand. He is the son of Shri Naresh Deo, a retired government teacher and recipient of the President’s Award for teaching.
Finally, Lieutenant Deo brings both academic excellence and professional naval expertise to his new assignment. The Governor of Odisha is assisted by two ADCs—one from the Indian Navy and another from the State Police. At present, Shri Kuldeep Meena, IPS, serves as the other ADC to the Governor.
