In the latest ICC ODI rankings, Virat Kohli has surged to fourth place among batters, surpassing Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who has slipped to fifth. Kohli’s impressive 84-run performance against Australia in the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal played a significant role in this leap. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill continues to reign at the top spot.

Australia’s captain, Steven Smith, announced his retirement from ODIs after the semifinal loss to India. Smith’s remarkable performance in the tournament has propelled him six spots to 16th in the batter rankings.

Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai has emerged as the top-ranked all-rounder, replacing his compatriot Mohammad Nabi. Omarzai’s stellar performance, including a maiden five-wicket haul against England and a fifty against Australia, has catapulted him to the top of the all-rounder rankings.

India’s Axar Patel has also made a significant leap, moving up 17 spots to 13th in the all-rounder rankings, reaching a career-high rating.

New Zealand’s Matt Henry, following his superb tournament, has climbed three spots to third in the bowling rankings. He now trails behind Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, who occupy the first and second spots, respectively.

Indian seamer Mohammed Shami has ascended three spots to 11th, thanks to his remarkable performance in the Champions Trophy. Additionally, South Africa’s Marco Jansen and England’s Jofra Archer have made notable gains in the bowler rankings.

These updates highlight the dynamic shifts in the cricketing world, with players making significant strides based on their recent performances in the Champions Trophy 2025.
