The Ministry of Defence signed Letters of Offer and Acceptance (LOAs) with the US Government to provide sustainment support for the Indian Navy’s MH60R helicopter fleet.
The deal, worth approximately Rs 7,995 crore, was finalised under the Foreign Military Sales programme. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh witnessed the signing ceremony in New Delhi on November 28, 2025.
Moreover, the support package includes spares, equipment, training, technical assistance, and repair and replenishment of components. It also establishes intermediate‑level repair and periodic maintenance inspection facilities in India. As a result, these facilities will strengthen domestic capability, reduce dependence on the US, and promote indigenous product development through MSMEs and Indian firms.
In addition, the sustainment support will enhance the operational availability and maintainability of the advanced MH60R helicopters. Since these helicopters are equipped with all‑weather and anti‑submarine warfare capabilities, they will now operate more effectively from dispersed bases and naval ships. Consequently, the Indian Navy will achieve optimal performance across primary and secondary missions.
