Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Regional Centre has forecasted heavy rainfall and thunderstorm alert for several districts of Odisha in the next few hours.
The alert has been sounded for eonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Jajpur.
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur, said the IMD.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
