Ahead of the Nuapada bypoll, the flying squad inspected BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik’s helicopter as he arrived for campaign activities on November 3.

The inspection followed election guidelines under the Model Code of Conduct, which mandates checks on political transport during poll season.

Earlier, the same squad had examined the helicopter of BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda during his visit to the region. These checks reflect the Election Commission’s effort to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.

Following Patnaik’s arrival, BJP candidate Jay Dholakia voiced strong criticism. He addressed a press conference, accusing the BJD leader of making a politically motivated appearance. Dholakia pointed out that Patnaik had never visited Nuapada before, not even to see his father, the late Rajendra Dholakia.

He emphasized that Patnaik only remembered Nuapada during elections, questioning the authenticity of his outreach. Dholakia expressed frustration, stating that voters are aware of such tactics and will respond accordingly at the ballot box.

The helicopter inspection and Dholakia’s remarks have intensified the political atmosphere in Nuapada. The exchange underscores the rising tension between BJD and BJP as both parties compete for voter trust.

As the campaign gains momentum, both sides are increasing their outreach efforts. Voters in Nuapada now find themselves at the heart of a charged political contest, where leadership credibility and genuine local engagement are under scrutiny.
