Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district reopened to tourists on Saturday after a six-month seasonal closure.

The sanctuary had remained shut since June. With the new tourist season beginning, visitors can now explore the Rissia Nature Camp, Rissia Dam, and nearby waterfalls. They can also spot deer translocated from Nandankanan Zoological Park. Their population has grown steadily over time.

Ranger and Assistant Conservator of Forests Subrat Kumar Behera confirmed the reopening. He said the sanctuary resumed operations following government guidelines. The Divisional Forest Officer inaugurated the season with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m.

Behera mentioned that the sanctuary will operate with a single entry and exit point due to limited staff. Still, tourists can enjoy a full round of the sanctuary without difficulty.

The reopening has lifted the spirits of nature enthusiasts and local tourism operators. Many expect a rise in footfall during the winter months. The sanctuary’s scenic beauty and wildlife continue to attract eco-tourists and photographers.

Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary plays a key role in Odisha’s eco-tourism circuit. Its reopening signals a fresh start for the local economy and conservation awareness. The forest department has urged visitors to follow safety and environmental guidelines during their visit.
